Certificate Programs

These are certificate programs beyond the basic certificate from a CDI. These offerings are for those that would like to do more advanced work within a disciplined structure. Certificate in Congregational Development Consulting This certificate is given for: 1. Meeting all of the requirements for CDI certificate. 2. Full participation in the workshops in at least four labs or workshops of five days each. If you have not done these in the past six years the lab/workshop training must include Human Interaction Lab, Group Development Lab and a Consultation Skills Lab (must be done with LTI, NTL or another approved agency). If these programs have been completed the workshops/labs to be attended are worked out between the participant and the certificate program staff person. They need to relate in some reasonable manner to the professional development of a consultant. 3. Completing a reading list in consultation skills and congregational/organization development that is submitted within the first four months of participation, for staff feedback and approval. 4. Work over a one year period with a mentor consultant, while you are observing, interning and conducting basic consultations. The mentor's task is to coach in consultation skills and to enable reflection and learning. You should have at least four meetings of at least 2 hours each. The participant contracts with a mentor who is acceptable to the program staff. 5. Complete a self-assessment and receive feedback forms from three clients or other consultants twice during the training program. Discuss the assessment and feedback with the program staff in person or over the phone. 6. Review, in detail, with the program staff or a program staff member, two consultations; in person or over the phone. Discuss the steps and objectives of the consultation process, rationale for significant interventions, consultation results, and your learnings. Project Development Reports need to be sent to the staff person well before the appointment. 7. When the participant and program staff are satisfied with the outcomes of steps 5 and 6, the participant certifies in writing the completion of all requirements and requests a certificate. All work must be completed within a four year period. Steps 5 and 6 may need to be repeated several times for learning purposes .
Certificate in Congregational Development Leadership This certificate is given for: 1.. Meeting all the requirements for the CDI certificate. 2. Full participation in the workshops in at least four labs or workshops of five days each. If you have not done these in the past six years the lab/workshop training must include a Human Interaction Lab and a Group Development Lab (must be done with LTI, NTL or another approved agency). If these programs have been completed the workshops/labs to be attended are worked out between the participant and the certificate program staff person. They need to relate in some reasonable manner to the professional development of a leader. 3. Completing a reading list in leadership and congregational/organization development that is submitted within the first four months of participation, for staff feedback and approval. 4. Work with a mentor for at least one year .The mentor's task is to coach in leadership skills and to enable reflection and learning. There should be at least 4 meetings of at least 2 hours each. The participant contracts with a mentor who is acceptable to the program staff. 5. Complete a self assessment and receive feedback from three people you work with (do twice during the training period) .Discuss the assessment and feedback with the program staff in person or over the phone . 6. Review in detail with the program staff, two significant congregational development projects you have carried out. Project Development Reports need to be sent to the staff person well before the appointment. 7. When the participant and the program staff are satisfied with the outcomes of steps 5 and 6, the participant certifies in writing the completion of all requirements and requests a certificate. All work must be completed within four years. Steps 5 and 6 may need to be repeated for learning purposes. Notes Regarding Certificates I. The certificates are for full program participation. They are not academic certificates or certificates of competence. 2. Participants cover their own costs for workshops, mentors, travel, phone, etc. 3. Fees are charged for staff time in relation to the consulting and leadership certificates. 4. Certificate programs must be fully completed within five years of completing CDI. 5. CDI must have been completed within the last three years to be eligible for participation in a certificate program. 6.
