Most of Lowell's twenty plus years of ordained ministry has been in congregations with particular challenges.  For ten years he was rector a pastoral sized congregation in a racially transitioning neighborhood.  For five+ years he was rector of a pastoral sized congregation needing redevelopment following an extended period of conflict.  His current call is in a large program-sized congregation with a profound and complicated history of leadership issues and conflict.  Lowell is a graduate of CDI and has served on the staffs of national CDI training events.

Lowell practices and teaches Contemplative Prayer in the Centering Prayer tradition taught by Thomas Keating.  He is an honors graduate of the General Theological Seminary.  He is a community activist on issues of inclusion and social justice.  He is a former Presiding Officer of the Order of the Ascension.
