Steve is bishop of the Episcopal
Diocese of Milwaukee. Prior to his election and consecration, he served as a
priest of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia and rector of St.
Alban’s Church, Annandale. From 1995
to 2001 he chaired the Diocese of Virginia's Commission Congregational
Development and Revitalization. A consultant to congregations since 1995,
he specializes in leading vestry planning retreats and revitalization
consultations. He has also worked as a search consultant and as a trainer in
church systems. One particular area of his expertise is working with
congregations in rural areas.
Bishop Miller, a graduate of the General Theological Seminary, received his initial training in congregational development through the Parish Development Institute (now CDI in Deer Isle, Maine). Continuing studies in this field have been in the areas of new member incorporation, conflict management and resolution, and demographic resources. |
